Dr. Sanders is the Program Director of the of core microscopy, molecular biology and genomics facilities know as the University Imaging Centers at the University of Minnesota. He is a member of the Awards and Membership Committee of The Histochemical Society.
His research interests are in the development microwave-assisted sample preparation methodologies surrounding fixed and live cell imaging techniques for light and electron microscopy. Numerous methodologies for in vivo labeling, in situ hybridization, antibody labeling, decalcification, antigen retrieval, and fixations for LM and EM have arisen from work in his laboratories.
His courses on microwave sample preparations provide researchers with the opportunity to learn the theory and practice of several of these techniques while processing their own samples under expert guidance.
He has hosted numerous national and international workshops on advanced optical microscopy techniques and sample preparation strategies and is especially experienced in providing hands-on training.
